Fairy Garden Halloween

Fairy Garden at Dusk

The wall is silence, the grass is sleep,
Tall trees of peace their vigil keep,
And the Fairy of Dreams with moth-wings furled
Plays soft on her flute to the drowsy world.

We call them faerie. We don’t believe in them. Our loss.

We’re over here. Please come join us.

And as the seasons come and go, here’s something you might like to know.
There are fairies everywhere: under bushes, in the air,
playing games just like you play, singing through their busy day.
So listen, touch, and look around – in the air and on the ground. And if you watch
all nature’s things, you might just see a fairy’s wing

  1. Just lovely……… even at Halloween…………. Maybe especially at Halloween!! 🙂

Here’s another for your cache of fairy quotes: ‘When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies’. [from Peter Pan by JM Barrie] Isn’t it a lovely thought 🙂

    • That is a lovely thought, and a beautiful quote too, Pauline. Thank you. We’ve arrived at the big day. Mike will carve three pumpkins today. M and his friend plan to make our deck scary for tonight. Trick or treat seekers arrive around 5 and come in a steady stream till 9. We’re attending another party after that at Mike’s bosses home. Where I’ll find the energy is anyone’s guess, but I know I’ll rally. I hope spring continues to open up around you. I’m picturing you pottering in your garden, threading glass, and crystal and charms into your magic light catchers, walking with Siddy and waving to his fans and counting the days till you can open the shades without a care. xox

  2. Sorry I’m late to the garden but I loved everything so much. Some things are familiar and some, new. As always, it’s perfectly whimsical. Those little succulents are a cute hedge. I just saw a new program about a local animal rescue farm that will take left over pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns for their piggies. They were munching away so happily. I have to find out how to get some there though. What do you do with your spent pumpkins? Compost? xo k

    • Hello, sweet Boomdee. I missed these comments and realize they were the day of my surgery. Priorities, Milner, priorities! LOL

That little bench came from Zuca, the tiny Los Gatos shop. The cinnamon stick bon fire and path were supposed to deter the squirrels from digging up the tiny plants. It didn’t work. They were at it three hours later!

I love the idea of sharing all that pumpkin goodness with pigs on farms. I collect the seeds from the pumpkins we grow, and give the commercial seeds to the squirrels. They eat the flesh as well and the rest we compost.
