Hatching baby spiders
I blogged and shared this photo two years ago, but thought it was worth sharing again.
While cleaning debris under the orange tree I discovered recently hatched spiders leaving home. Within two days they were gone without a trace, so I’m glad I took this photo when I did.

That is a lot of babies! I bet mama was pleased to see them fly off! Fab photo Alys, once again I am astounded by your quick wits when it comes to catching nature in action! I’d be too busy standing there with my mouth open! I once caught a glimpse of a cloud of babies flying off on a gust of wind and that amazed me – it was over in a few seconds and they all simply melted into the air. I’m enjoying your blogging course 🙂

Wow, Pauline, that would have been amazing to see. I feel so lucky to have captured this photo. Trust me, I run for the camera often, only to miss the picture entirely. Twice this week a squirrel gathered a mouth full of fluff from my gradually deteriorating swing, sat with it on the bench, then leaped the fence leaving me without a picture. It was so darn cute, too.

Wonderful photo. I found spiders’ nests on my curtains a few weeks ago. I had to scrape them off because I had visions of exactly this sort of hatching happening in my bedroom. I don’t mind spiders but not that many in my bedroom, please. 🙂

A hatching nest in your bedroom would be pretty hard to take. I’m glad you’re not dealing with that.

Oh great ! I had forgotten about this creepy mess so thank you for bringing it back, LOL !
Spiders have their purpose I suppose, maybe lunch for a sweet birdie? But they best keep their distance because my scream would knock them on the wee tushes so fast they wouldn’t know what hit them.
I did swing over to Karl’s there. Fun stuff! Liked ‘pail pal’ and the vampire fangs too. clever captions!! ‘Weird Image Wednesday’ hey? Well now I wonder what I can find on holidays? Hehe, maybe someones crazy morning hairdo? Oh wait, maybe not. That someone could very well be me. xoxoxo ❤

LOL! Sorry about that. I know spiders aren’t for everyone. They’re wonderful for the garden, eating lots of non-beneficial bugs. Hummingbirds do eat them for protein when nesting, and they also use spider’s silk to first glue the nest together, then to line it at the end. Clever little birds.
We could do a blog hop of crazy blog hair. That might be fun.

If these little guys were on me, well, I don’t know what I’d do. Maybe just keel over on the spot. But in your photo they are ADORABLE! I especially love their little dark butts — they remind me of tiny little honeybees, suspended in mid-flight above a giant succulent flower.

I’m laughing out loud at your description. I’m glad I spotted them *before* walking into them. I would have screamed a blue streak. It was amazing, too, how quickly they dispersed.

I’m with you: If I’d accidentally walked into that cluster of hatchlings, I think my screams would be heard up to 14 counties away, lol. No matter how adorable, some things are still better appreciated from afar.
