I Got It! I Got to Have a Gott!

DSC_0071If you follow Shelley Sackier’s weekly musings at Peak Perspective you’ll know why I’m excited. If you don’t, go take a peek. You’re in for a treat.

Shelley writes brilliant and entertaining prose with wit and charm. The equally talented Robin Gott provides the doodles. They collaborate across a continent, producing weekly gems that make you smile and think. I want to be like them when I grow up.

As readers, we voted each month for our favorite doodle. The best of the best made it into his 2015 calendar.

Robin Gott: The Clever Doodler

On November 22nd Shelley published Gotta Have a Gott announcing

“the grand unveiling of the crackerjack cartoon collection of Peak Perspective’s illustrator extraordinaire—Robin Gott. We’ve been ballyhooing this exciting event for ten months, and have decided that for this first year Rob will create and put FIFTY calendars up for sale.”

Rob studied art in London, but currently lives in Sweden.  He says:

“I’ve more or less escaped from the production line process of animation, and I’m just having fun drawing for my own amusement.”

Lucky for us, I say!

Shelley’s bio includes this gem:

“My experiences are prolific, my hopes still abundant and my realizations wishfully profound. It is what we make it.”

She makes you glad you stopped by.

  1. Aren’t they great! I recently became a fan of Shelley – she wandered over to me from somewhere or other – maybe you? – and I returned the visit and was immediately hooked. She writes so well and has a wonderful sense of humour! So – you are getting a Gott? Grand!! 🙂

  2. I think nicer words have never been said about me and it’ll probably never get any better than this, Alys. I might as well kick the bucket right now.
I would die a happy girl knowing someone cared about Rob’s and my work as much as you do.
I hope you can feel my massive squish of an internet hug.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ❤

    • I know many people care about your work. Not everyone remembers to say so. No bucket kicking for you though. You’re far to young with many stories yet to write.

I can feel that massive squish all the way from here, delivered with your gracious words. Merry Merry and Happy happy to you.

  3. I’m completely bowled over by your kind wprds of praise. Not sure if I can squeeze my head out through the door into the snow covered landscape we have here in Sweden right now. But I’ll try. Many thanks and all best wishes to you for 2015.

  4. Isn’t it fun to see how different styles of illustration tell little stories. I think Catrobics must be my favourite but Benedict Cucumberpatch would be a close runner up. A calendar is a great idea. I’m expecting one from Sunshine, and of course have my vintage kitty cats one from you. Hope the evening out with Sharon was great oxox

  5. Well, I’m crawling out from under the rock I’ve been living and taking a peek at what the fuss is about. This is all new to me so thank you for the introduction. A good start to a new year. I’ve never doodled or drawn so my part in life is to enjoy those that do. I’ll pop over.
