  1. Sometimes the simplest things say so much. Loved your post Alys, and especially your quote because it’s so true for you (and me) 😀 I love that you love animals as much as I do, to the moon and back xoxo

    • I love that we have that incredible bond with animals in common. This is one of my favorite quotes:

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.-Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks for reading and commenting, always, no matter how busy you are. xox

      • I’ve enjoyed that quote before and I embrace Gandhi’s philosophy. Tomorrow is a day off for Jim, it’s ‘Family Day’ in Canada (not everyone gets it) Most banks and gov’t offices will be closed and many privately owned retail stores will be open for a shorter part of the day, maybe 11:00 to 4:00 or something similar. So I’m going to take the day off too, LOL No chores, just fun. Did you celebrate Valentine’s with your hubby and boys? Today, we drove around neighbourhoods we like looking for something to jump out at us, new listing, empty lot, private sales or that sort of thing. No luck, but it’s sure nice to spend time in yours xoxox

        • Oh darn that housing market. My dream is that you and Marlene both find the perfect home this year. I hope the spring weather yields better results.

I’m so glad you both have the day off. Fun! Mike and the boys have the day off as well (it’s President’s day). The boys actually have the entire week off for winter break.

Valentine’s day was a mix of emotions. I attended a memorial service for Jim Reber’s beloved sister who was also born on Valentine’s day. She was a remarkable woman. The service lasted two hours and was attended by close to 300 people. I was exhausted when I got home, and Mike worked late, but we made the best of it. We took the boys out and the four of us tried a new pizza place that opened just a week ago. It’s super close to our house, too, so that was especially nice.

What did you two lovebirds do?

          • oh no, I remember you talking about Jim’s sister. I’m really sorry to hear she’s passed away hon. I’m certain you being able to attend was appreciated. She must have been a very good person to have so many friends come to say goodbye and on her birthday too. That seems bittersweet, being that getting together to celebrate someone’s life is generally what we do on birthdays. I’ve asked Jim to make a wine and cheese at an art gallery, should he be left to plan something for me but we are not well prepared in any stretch of the imagination. I don’t like to think of these things.

Thanks for cheering on the house hunt. I know Marlene is frustrated too. I hope at least one of us is lucky 😀

Valentines was a busy day for me. So we had planned to dine on the way to a Wine Festival, but I wasn’t hungry at 5pm so I just made toast b4 we left home. It was at our Convention Centre, which is downtown, so we took the train, it’s so handy. We were hosted by a business associate of Jim’s. Etzio is Italian and he know’s a good amount about wine, so we deferred to him. His wife Rene is really great to visit with and so we enjoyed their company. They live in Vancouver but just came for this. We actually saw them while we were in Hawaii too. They treated us to Dinner one night. They’re a really nice couple, I like them a lot. Another gal, Linda, who just retired from Jim’s office joined with and she’s a doll too. We don’t usually exchange a Valentines day gift and made no exception this year 😀

Have a fun day off. I guess scheduling the boys might be another job you have to do this week, unless they just like to loaf around, that’s always good for a couple of days 😀 Hugs and I’m off to see my pillow xoK

Jim’s sister was remarkable. She will be sorely missed. I was glad I could attend and thought the memorial was a perfect tribute in every way.

I have asked to be cremated and scattered in a garden somewhere. Beyond that, I don’t really know what I would ask for. Good thing I won’t be around to organize it. 😉

You’re right, we really won’t be around to know. I also thought an aqua park bench with a low to the ground water fountain for pets would be a fun memorial too. Poor Jim, such a projects I’m requesting…fountains, wine and cheese, benches…I’m leaving him a ‘Honey-Do List’ hehehe.

Really lovely story and very different for Williams. He begins as an android housekeeper and thru constant changing technology he grows more and more human. Families put him in their will and so he see’s lot’s of changes over 2 centuries. I think it’d be a beautiful family movie and the boys might really like it. I wonder what we’ll look like? mmmmm, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see 😀 xoK
