According to Merriam-Webster, bloom can mean “to produce or yield flowers.” It also means “to mature into achievement of one’s potential.”
Last night my soon-to-be 12 year-old asked if I liked HTML. I said that I did. He wanted to create this beautiful lettering for my blog using one of his favorite sites. He was also careful to point out that it wasn’t completely original, giving credit where credit was due. I love it!

His integrity, thoughtfulness, creativity and wonderful imagination bring me such joy. It occurred to me today as I was photographing the blooms in my garden, that my children are blooming as well, blossoming really into two terrific young men.
That’s a lot of blooming on Thursday!

What a sweet post. You seem to really enjoy your children. Good, it goes by too quickly. My last just graduated from college and now I am a true empty nester! Quite the adjustment.

Wow, Betsy! I’ve heard that’s quite an adjustment. I started my family later in life than most, so at 52 I still have two young boys (12 and 15). They’ll both be taller than me. It does go by quickly.

Parenting must be the hardest job ever, so many diversions for kids now. It must be just so nice to hear your son wants to be involved in what’s important to you, that’s so sweet.

I know its been said before, but for as hard as it is, it is also rewarding. The depth of love for one’s children runs so deep. That said, they are unique and complex creatures (aren’t we all?) an as such, challenges abound.
It is sweet. They’ve enriched my life in so many ways.

Thanks, Sharon! I’m used to photographing bees in the pumpkin flowers. The flowers are so large that they spend a lot of time in there. In the cat mint, each bud is small the bees were moving quickly. It took some effort to get one good shot…but that’s all I needed.

It was a catnip plant! I just had to ask my husband what the new arrival was in our sun garden and he told me it was for the furry ladies of the house. Well what do you know. Thanks for asking!
